This is the completion of week two for me on being a vegetarian. I never really understood the concept and how people could simple just give up something that we as children are taught is good for us! But on the flip side I don’t understand how as young adults could have turned a closed eye on how animals are treated, especially those of us who grew up on a farm!
I have learned in my two weeks that it’s not hard at all I feel that it is just a matter of opening up your mind when you walk by your local meat counter and understand what those animals went through !! There are other options I have found vegan based no meat plant based meat is a very good alternative !
I have also discovered that it is not such a leap from vegetarian to vegan in the middle of week two I discovered my fridge was completely loaded with only vegan products and I never missed anything
Life is good on this side and if it is only one animal I saved today by not eating meat it is a win win for us both
Loving the new vegan/vegetarian life
PS eating out is an is the new challenge
Growing up in the south (Alabama ) I was always told that animals were there for the soul purpose of food. I often wondered about their feelings and how they must feel when loaded onto the truck that they have seen come and go never to return any fellow animals. ” my dad assured me that animals never felt a thing !!
Now that I’m 36 I’m shocked to find out about the way animals are treated for the soul purpose of food for example pigs are kept in cages so small they can never stand turn or hardly move their head ! Cows are transported in a way that so compacted not allowed to move for upward of 36 hours . And in the cold and heat if they freeze to the sides of the truck they cut with knifes and prayed with crow bars if they can’t walk chains are driven through their legs and they are drug to their death
Those are just a few you take a moment to watch videos on how livestock for mass production is done
I have always been a serious meat eater till now
No more! I can’t even walk past the meat counter at the grocery store with out those images going through my head “it’s heart breaking”
Ps if you do eat meat make sure you research where your meat comes from and how we treat them
We treat our prisoners better than we treat our animals that nourish us
Well some look at is they have lived through the night time to make the best of a new day!
I look at it – why am I being punished and where the hell is my Coffey !
And damn look at this traffic ( did I put the trash out)? (Did I close the garage door) ?
ADD amplified I guess ( and oh wait I still didn’t find where I put my Coffey — ! “I bet I sat it on the top of the car”
And to think I lived to see another morning 🙂 big smile
I don’t get it! Why is it that we have the expectation that’s Monday’s are going to be bad even before they start ? And why is it automatically an excuse for its (MONDAY) (leave me alone)
What is that? If you feel so strongly about that certain day then maybe you should find a job that doesn’t require you to interact with other people on those days !
I however find Monday’s exciting ! You get to catch up with coworkers and friends about what they got to do over their weekend !
I once had a professor say ” positive thinking is in the hands of the beholder, only they can make the choice”
well a weekend has come and gone yet again, I’m in the mood for some comfort food
beef roast ( in crock pot) I can of condensed French opinion soup with 1/2 cup water poured in on top of of an already brown roast
cook on low 6 -8 hours
over Rosemary garlic home made mash potatoes
to die for this is mental release to prepare for the week ahead ! What’s yours?
Day after day I drink my Coffey content with life happy to love my wonderful husband, my dog, and the quality of life we are able to live
but at what point is it a burden ? Should we strive for a simpler life? ( no job, live off the grid, no more morning commute)
